Material selection is one of the most important decisions to be made by clinicians, because proper material selection can affect the long-term function, longevity and esthetics of restorations. The availability of the large number of restorative material have provided great number of choices for restorative dentists, but at the same time, it has increased the complexity of the decision making process. The overwhelming number of restorative dental materials mean that improper material selection can potentially lead to failures in the outcome. This course is designed to provide the practitioner with up-to-date practical information on restorative materials and techniques in a clear, evidence-based, and unbiased manner. Topics of discussion will include critical reviews of ceramics, composites, bonding agents and cements, as well as the clinical protocols and recommendations for their use. We will also provide decision making guides to help the practitioner determine the best material for various clinical scenarios.
