Ortho–Perio Synergy
Integrating Orthodontic and Periodontal Therapies
Connect orthodontic movement with periodontal biology. Explore complementary approaches to alignment, tissue regeneration, and interdisciplinary treatment planning with Chris Chang and Homa Zadeh.
Recorded May 30–31, 2026
Two perspectives. One integrated plan.
Orthodontic and periodontal therapies share a common goal: a healthy, stable foundation for lasting function and esthetics. This course brings together Chris Chang’s orthodontic perspective and Homa Zadeh’s periodontal and regenerative expertise to examine how these disciplines inform one another.
Topics span periodontal phenotype and the biological limits of tooth movement, clear aligner mechanics, temporary anchorage devices, VISTA techniques, and the sequencing of orthodontic, surgical, and restorative care.
Designed for periodontists, orthodontists, and general dentists interested in interdisciplinary treatment planning.

Learning objectives
The course is designed to help participants:
- Evaluate gingival and alveolar phenotype when planning orthodontic movement.
- Recognize biological limits and recession risk in clear aligner treatment.
- Explain how aligner mechanics and temporary anchorage devices can support interdisciplinary care.
- Discuss VISTA approaches for soft tissue and bone deficiencies.
- Plan the sequence of orthodontic, periodontal, and restorative interventions.
- Connect digital planning and surgical workflows with long-term tissue stability.
Course topics
Periodontal foundations for tooth movement
Gingival and alveolar phenotype, biological limits, and recession risk in aligner therapy.
Orthodontic mechanics and interdisciplinary applications
Clear aligner mechanics, gummy smile management, and temporary anchorage devices (TADs).
VISTA and treatment sequencing
Soft tissue and bone deficiencies, case planning, and coordination of orthodontic, surgical, and restorative treatment.
Knowledge assessment
A 10-question assessment covering both faculty perspectives.
Final recording chapters and total viewing time will be confirmed when video preparation is complete.
