Extraction Site Management: Immediate Placement vs. Ridge Preservation (May 2-3, 2026)

May 2-3, 2026

In-Person & Remote | 16 CE Units

Course Description

Transitioning from natural teeth to implants is one of the most pivotal aspects of modern dentistry. Tooth extraction, while routine, initiates a cascade of biologic events that can result in significant alveolar bone loss if not carefully managed. Clinicians are often challenged by multiple treatment pathways, each influenced by patient-specific factors, site characteristics, time constraints, and material considerations. Treatment predictability relies heavily on evidence-based decision-making and thorough risk assessment.

In today’s era of accelerated care, immediacy in treatment is highly valued by both patients and clinicians. The integration of digital technologies—including 3D imaging, guided surgery, dynamic navigation, and 3D printing/milling—offers clinicians greater precision in diagnosis, planning, surgery, and prosthetic restoration. This course provides a comprehensive framework to navigate key risk factors, evaluate treatment protocols, and make informed choices. Discussions will include timing of implant placement, precise positioning, management of socket gaps, and the role of soft tissue augmentation, with a focus on balancing immediacy and predictability.

Educational Objectives

  • Risk assessment during tooth extraction and implant placement
  • Immediate implant placement and provisionalization within extraction sockets
  • Immediate implant placement in anterior teeth vs. molars
  • Alveolar ridge preservation for delayed implant placement: rationale and protocol
  • Management of sites with deficient mucosal and alveolar bone phenotypes
  • Leveraging digital tools to orchestrate a harmonized workflow
